EPR (extended producer responsibility)
A principle, derived from the polluter-pays principle, under which those placing certain products on the market (packaging, electrical equipment, textiles, furniture, building materials, etc.) must take responsibility, including financially, for their end-of-life management. They usually do so by joining a producer responsibility organisation and paying an eco-fee, which can be modulated according to eco-design criteria.
