Energy efficiency
Ratio between the service delivered (output, comfort, mobility) and the energy consumed to provide it; improving it means delivering the same service with less energy. Directive (EU) 2023/1791 makes “energy efficiency first” a guiding principle and sets an EU consumption reduction target for 2030. It complements, but does not replace, sufficiency.
