Carbon budget
Maximum cumulative amount of CO₂ that can still be emitted globally to limit warming to a given level with a given probability. Assessed by the IPCC, this remaining budget shrinks every year in line with emissions. In France, the term also refers to the emission caps per period set by the National Low-Carbon Strategy (SNBC).
